Attending a FRIENDS convention can have a tremendous
impact on a person. Below are reflections some of our past
attendees have shared after attending a convention or one day
workshop. We hope these stories will encourage readers to take
the step and join us.
Note: If you have attended a convention, we would love to hear
your reflections.
- A
Frightening Realization
After John
attended the March 6 St Louis FRIENDS and Family Day with
his son, he wrote the following reflection.
- Three Days a Year
Three days a
year may not seem like much, but to my family and me, it is indeed
priceless...
- Three Days of Happiness
It all starts on Thursday night. All kids are thinking: "Will
they like me?, Will I stutter?, Will I make friends?"...
- Wake Up Inside Me
Last year, back in Secaucus, I had no idea what I was getting myself
into. At age 33, it was my first experience with the stuttering
community. I felt so out of place even though I stuttered all
my life. The Friends conference in 2003 put me in a state of shock...
- Stuttering Without Shame
Reading Reaching Out is always a perk-up for me. I pick up the
mail. It's an ordinary after work time, and there is my newsletter.
Even if I'm already in a good mood, something gets better. It's
the connection and the positive attitude. I never liked those
Pollyanna types that seemed to want me to actually be glad I stutter...
- Give These Kids a Box Seat
Every stuttering convention I've ever attended
brings with it, its own magic: unusual things happen, coincidences
abound, connections are made, and signs are everywhere that a
sea of change is taking place...
